Russell’s Final Roar in West Indies Jersey

 

Andre "Dre Russ" Russell, an all-around player from the West Indies, has decided to retire from international cricket after making significant contributions in various formats.

At the age of 37, he will make his final appearances for the Maroon Cap in the first two Twenty20 Internationals against Australia at Kingston's Sabina Park on July 20 and 22, 2025, in the Australia tour of West India 2025.

Russell's Emotional Statement On The Field

On July 16, Russell formally declared his intention to wear the West Indies shirt, calling it "one of the greatest achievements in my life." "I want to finish my international career on a high while being a role model for the next generation," he said, describing how performing at Sabina Park in front of family and friends was a suitable conclusion. He was raised in Jamaica.

T20I: 84 matches, 61 wickets, three fifties (HS 71), 1,078 runs (strike rate ~163)

ODIs: 1,034 runs, 70 wickets, 56 matches; nevertheless, he hasn't played since 2019.

Russell has only played Twenty20 cricket since 2019, but he has continued to be a reliable, game-changing, power-hitting all-rounder in franchise and international tournaments. He accumulated more than 9,300 T20 runs and around 500 wickets in international tournaments, including the IPL, CPL, and Major League Cricket in the United States.
